With the classic appeal of 19th century applique, Jeana has created a quilt with contemporary charm and a timeless theme. Drawing on her fondness for traditional red and green applique quilts, she has adapted five appealing variations of the Whig Rose pattern for the center of this quilt. Alternating between them are four blocks designed to accommodate words of comfort. The nine blocks are framed with large pots of flowers that bloom in the clear, bright colors of coral, pink, and 30's green. Between the exuberant pots, whose flowers join hands around each corner, are words representing virtuous traits.

There are clear and precise instructions for stitching this quilt as well as Jeana’s time-proven techniques for needle-turn applique. Of special interest in the Glossary of Technique of this book are full-color, step-by-step illustrated instructions for stitching multiple layered flowers. Jeana’s unique technique eliminates excess fabric from underneath each layer of a flower without the need to cut away the background behind the blossoms.
